When my client’s ask me ‘what to do!’ I tell them that it is my belief that A TON of issues to do with feeling insane around food has to do with body image. Body dissatisfaction is the reason I believe we go on a diet in the first place.
I personally experienced just how significant hating my body had on my behaviour. I yo-yoed from one diet to the next because I believed that our bodies determine our self worth.
I want to remind you that you always have permission to change your perception of your body right now, rather than play into the hands of this societal belief that you ‘ought’ to look a certain way to ‘fit in’.
I want to remind you that you can take action towards accepting your body as it is right now. You can ditch the scales, you can find clothes that fit your body and feel comfortable on your body, you can compliment yourself, you can start to take better care of yourself.
Despite fear, or the perceived challenge you can change your relationship with food. But first you have to be open and willing to change your relationship with yourself.
You have permission to seek support from a coach, a psychologist or any other health professional.
You have permission to choose to think differently to other people about ‘body diversity’ and about what really constitutes ‘healthful’ behaviours around food.
You have the right to not diet and manipulate your body despite what other people are doing to their bodies.
I want to remind you that you that it’s through the hard times that we learn the most important messages. Are you going to lean in or lean out?
…..Because what’s going to need to happen before you take action? What needs to happen for you to be ‘ready’? What else are you willing to physically, emotionally and spiritually endure before it’s your ‘time’?
If you know the next step/s I encourage you take action.
