Peanut butter is seriously delicious. I can’t get enough of it. If you’re not a fan of peanut butter any nut butter would taste delicious (cashew butter and hazelnut butter are really amazing in this recipe). Children also love this smoothie which can work well as a breakfast (add a few tablespoons of wholegrain oats for additional sustenance) or an afternoon snack.
Cacao is a great energy booster, while cinnamon is great for boosting the metabolism and firing up your digestion and the chia seeds are a fabulous source of protein, Omega 3, calcium….the list goes on- all of which are important for attention and energy .
If you’re feeling extra creative this smoothie would be a delicious creamy base for porridge or bircher muesli.
1 cup coconut milk
1/2 cup almond milk
1 1/2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
1 tablespoon natural peanut butter
1 tablespoon rice malt syrup
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon maca powder (optional)
Adults: Add 1 heaped tablespoon protein powder (unsweetened, preferably vegan and organic)
Blend all of the ingredients until smooth. Makes 1 smoothie.
